Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is the only Hotel in Northern Brazil to be part of the Associação de Roteiros de Charme. The association currently has 62 hotels in Brazil and is a member of the UNWTO, compliant with the Code of Ethics and Environmental Conduct, the greatest authority in quality artisanal lodging for boutique hotels in Brazil and around the world. This means it follows the principles of low-impact intervention to conduct tourism activities using responsible solutions and being in harmony with the local community. And, besides that, the hotel is also one of the most authentic and unique hotels in Brazil according to the National Geographic Traveler editors for the “2011 Stay List”. Visiting the Amazon is a lifetime experience, out of which we carry memories of an exuberant and delicate nature. Let these sensations to be heightened by wellbeing and relaxation specially tailored by the lodge for you!
Day 1: Manaus/Amazon Forest
Upon arrival at Manaus airport you will be met and transferred to the Anavilhana Lodge. The rest of the morning is free for you to settle in and relax. [D]
Days 2 to 3: Amazon Jungle
During these 2 days you will enjoy one of the best environmental experiences of your life. Based at the Anavilhanas Lodge you will participate in a series of activities designed to give you the best “feel” for the jungle life and let you appreciate one of the rarest motors of life on Earth. Experience the silence of the jungle only broken by the song of a bird signaling its position to the flock or the swoosh of a crocodile positioning itself to better catch a possible prey! These are some of the feelings you will remember from canoeing through riverbanks in the Rio Negro, tunnel like fingers of the river giving you the impression that you traveled thousands of years back!
Your visit of a Caboclo Community in Tiririca will give you another dimension of life in the Amazon, demonstrated by a community proud of its history and its participation in the creation on the state, and still opting for a simple life with strong family roots, kids swimming in the river, adults working hard to put food on the table and all preserving a culture they refuse to let be killed by the influence of the “big city” nearby. In the evening, after sunset, travel some 20 miles by boat to sightsee a few of the 400 islands in the Anavilhanas Archipelago created by many small rivers joining the Rio Negro. This suite of islands continues up the river for another 55 miles.
During your trip you will see several alligators, many different birds and, maybe, some primates. Your guide, familiar with the region, will give you explanations and advice as you slide on the dark waters of the river. This experience will be completed by a reconnaissance tour of the Archipelago that, during the dry season, offers small beaches decorated by retorted tree roots that permit access for hikes and trails. This will be a memorable trip! Before you leave you will take a short boat ride up the river to reach Novo Airão, the closest town to Jaú Park. In the area you will visit the Amazonian Dolphins and Art Parlors.
The latter are like Caboclo galleries where local artists place their creations for sale. These may vary from weaved artifacts to necklaces, clothes and even shoes. A visit to the Amazon would not be complete without Piranha, the voracious local river fish, so we have scheduled a recreational Piranha fishing to have a lot of fun and, maybe… a little scare! One of the things you first notice when you arrive in the Brazilian Northeast is the sunset. But the sunrise is also very impressive so we thought that a sunrise contemplation would be in order to add something more to your unforgettable trip. Enjoy the early morning golden tones warm the forest and reflect on the river waters and make you feel like you are watching the Creation. [B/L/D]
Day 4: Anavilhanas Lodge, Manaus, USA
Prepare yourself to leave “Paradise”! Not an easy thing after these fantastic days filled with unique experiences and close contact with nature. But reality is knocking so… pack your bags, enjoy a last tasty juice, have a look around to engrave the peaceful scenery deep into your mind and, especially, make a vow that you return and enjoy yourself even more. A driver will pick you up and will take you to the Airport for your trip to the next destination or back home. [B]
