Day 1: Bordeaux

Boarding at 6:00 p.m. in Bordeaux. Welcome cocktail and presentation of the crew. Excursion common for both packages : guided tour of Bordeaux by night (reservation in advance is essential; please contact your travel agency).

 

Day 2: Bordeaux, Pouillac

Early in the morning, cruise to Pauillac (1). We will head down the Garonne River and then join the Gironde River, passing Cazeau Island and Patiras Island before arriving in Pauillac. This morning take the vintage helicopter tour. Return to the ship for lunch and, in the afternoon, take one of the excursions proposed. Return aboard for dinner and an evening of entertainment
 

Vintage option (applies to both Classic and Discovery packages): Helicopter ride (2) : fly over the gorgeous Médoc. Experience a bird’s eye view of the numerous châteaux and famous vineyards that give the region its reputation. It’s a once in a lifetime experience! (Excursion proposed as a supplement for the classic package)
 

Classic option: excursion to visit the Medoc (reservation in advance is essential; please contact your travel agency)
 

Discovery option (at a supplement): Medoc: biking, wine and cheese. With a tour guide, you’ll leave from the port on your bike to explore the vineyards and prestigious châteaux in Pauillac. Then, you will taste a lovely glass of grand cru and some regional cheeses served in a prestigious château in the heart of Pauillac.

 

Day 3: Pouillac, Gironde Estuary, Blaye

Early in the morning, cruise to Blaye. Arriving in Blaye, this superb acropolis was the perfect lookout post to watch for invaders. The famous French military engineer Vauban built a citadel here, which is Blaye's undisputed major attraction today. In the afternoon take one of the proposed excursions. Return on board for dinner and an evening of dancing.

Classic option: excursion along the Corniche, or cliff route. Guided tour of the citadel. And finally a tasting of the famous Blaye "praslines."

 

Discovery option (at a supplement): Blaye and its underground monuments. After our tour, we’ll walk a few more feet to a local vineyard and taste some regional products with an excellent glass of wine.
 

Day 4: Blaye, Libourne, Saint-Emilion

Start cruising towards Libourne.  Today’s excursion, the visit of Saint-Emilion, is common for both packages. Return on board to Libourne and enjoy a Gala dinner and evening.

 

 

Day 5: Libourne or Bourg, Bordeaux

Cruising towards Bordeaux and arriving later in the morning. Disembark at 11.00 am.

Notes:

  • For an optimal organization of the cruise, the order of excursions can be modified according to the tide.
  • Note about coaches: Double-floor coaches are not allowed on many roads in Gironde, including Libourne, Saint Emilion and Blaye.
  • For the safety of our passengers, the captain and crew of the boat may decide to modify the navigational itinerary. The cruise schedule may vary according to tides and arrival times at ports of call may be subject to change.

(1) Depending on the tide, stopover in Pauillac may be replaced by Cussac-Fort-Médoc and Libourne by Bourg.

(2) This excursion must be pre-booked in advance through your travel agent. Depending on availability and subject to favorable weather conditions.
