Day 1: Antananarivo
Upon arrival you’ll be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel. Some time to rest. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. [D]
Day 2: Antananarivo, Peyrieras, Andasibe
Breakfast and departure to Andasibe National Park. We will stop at the Peyrieras reserve for a visit (chameleons, crocodiles, reptiles and other species of Madagascar's endemic fauna). After lunch continue to Andasibe for check-in and dinner at the hotel. After dinner go for a night visit to the V.O.I.M.M.A. Reserve. Despite its small size, the reserve is an untouched paradise for endemic animals and plants. Some groups of Indris can be watched here in their natural habitat, and its white-headed relatives, the diademed sifakas, often jump between the tree tops. Some other lemurs such as woolly lemurs can also be seen. Return to the hotel for overnight. [B/L/D]
Day 3: Andasibe
Breakfast and visit of approximately three hours to the special reserve of Analamazaotra, in search of the sifaka lemurs and the indri-indri (the largest lemur in Madagascar). This park is rich in endemic flora, as well as orchids. Continue to Vakôna Forest Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit lodge’s private reserve, an island of lemurs and a crocodile park. Return to the hotel for dinner and accommodation. [B/L/D]
Day 4: Andasibe, Ambatolampy, Antsirabe
Breakfast at the hotel. We take Route 7 south 43 miles to arrive at Ambatolampy our first stop. Capital of the aluminum in Madagascar, because all the pots you see at hotels and restaurants throughout the country are built there, the city profiles its silhouette on the bluish horizon of the Ankaratra at an altitude of 4900 feet. Visit the aluminum pot factory before lunch. In the afternoon, we drive another 53 miles to Antsirabe, located in the middle of a fertile plain surrounded by high mountains, on average around 8,200 feet above sea level, in an area of recent volcanism. Antsirabe, called "the city of water", is a spa and has become very important for the country’s economy because of its fresh produce and its "visygasy" mineral water. Dinner and overnight at Antsirabe. [B/L/D]
Day 5: Antsirabe, Morondava
After breakfast we continue our trip taking Route 34 in the direction of Miandriazo, where we stop for lunch. Another 4-hour drive to arrive at Morondava in time for dinner. Overnight in Morondava. [B/L/D]
Day 6: Morondava, Belo sur Tsiribihina, Bekopaka
Breakfast and departure in 4x4 towards Belo sur Tsiribihina, making a journey of about three hours through trails (62 miles) and passing through the “Alley of the Baobabs” and dry tropical forests until reaching the pier. This is a good time to enjoy your picnic lunch. Then, we take a barge that will take us to Belo sur Tsiribihina. The trip will continue towards Bekopaka for approximately another four hours (62 miles) before arriving at the Manambolo River, which we will cross by barge, and continue for another kilometer of trail until we reach the village of Bekopaka. Dinner and accommodation. [B/P/D]
Day 7: Bekopaka
Hoping you rested from yesterday’s trip and enjoyed your breakfast! Today we drive to the "Manambolo Gorges" a magnificent view whose visit will take about three hours. We’ll start going up the Manambolo river in pirogues to reach the Vazimba tomb. The Vazimba settled in Madagascar during a period of 8 centuries between the 3rd century BCE and the 5th century CE. We, then., return to the starting point for the Small Tsingy circuit that lasts approximately 2 hours and passes through a labyrinth of limestone and two view points over the impressive pinnacles. There are some good chances to spot the Decken’s shifaka and red-fronted brown lemurs. Enjoy your picnic lunch in the park. In the afternoon, return to the hotel with some time to rest and relax. Dinner and accommodation. [B/P/D]
Day 8: Bekopaka
After breakfast, we will take the Andamozavaky circuit, about 2.5 miles taking 4 to 6 hours to complete. It’s a circuit of great spaces, vertigo and great emotions. We will travel in 4x4 vehicles for 10 miles, north of the village of Bekopaka, where we will be able to discover the karst cathedrals, which can reach a height of 300 feet, rocks sculpted by wind and rain, dense cracks, deep crevices, sculpted limestone blocks into blades or sharp points, which become tsingys. This is one of the most unusual places in Madagascar! This arid region is home to a very rich fauna and flora and is the place where we can observe the lemur Fulvus or Sifaka. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Dinner and accommodation. [B/P/D]
Day 9: Bekopaka, Belo sur Tsiribihina, Kirindy
This morning we return to Belo sur Tsiribihina, where we will have lunch before boarding a barge to cross the river for an hour and continue our journey towards the Kirindy Reserve. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. After dinner, when it’s dark we visit the Kirindy Forest hoping to have the chance to come across fossas, a small beast endemic to Madagascar. Also expect to find the Malagasy Giant Rat emerging from their holes to enjoy the cool night air. Return to the hotel for accommodation. [B/L/D]
Day 10: Kirindy – Morondava
Breakfast. Daytime visit to the Kirindy Nature Reserve, one of the best destinations for bird watching such as the red-tailed vanga, the Madagascar sparrow hawk, the Coua, the paradise and the striped bellied hawk. Bird watchers will highly appreciate a visit to these unique places. The Professional Forest Training Center (CFPF) offers various guided tours to help you discover animal and plant species while respecting the tranquility of the place. With luck, you may come across several lemurs on your way such as the forked lemur (Phanar Pallescens) who will animate the hike with their calls of communication, or even species of micro-lemurs, the small nocturnal lemurs of Madagascar, which will not hesitate to spy on your actions with their globular eyes. After lunch we’ll, visit the famous "Alley of the Baobabs", where you can photograph this impressive natural avenue, together with the enigmatic and passionate baobabs and their Sakalava tombs. Dinner and accommodation. [B/L/D]
