We will also visit Kandawgyi Lake, a large and peaceful pool of water east of the Shwedagon Pagoda. Whilst exploring the park that surrounds the lake, you will be able to take a look at the Karaweik, a replica of a traditional Royal Barge. Later visit the historic Shwedagon Pagoda which towers almost 98 meters (326ft) above the green cityscape of Yangon. One of the wonders of the religious world, it is believed to have been built more than 2500 years ago and is a testament to the faith of the Burmese. Continue to your hotel for overnight.
Note: Day 1 program is contingent on your arrival time

Day 2: Yangon, Mt. Kyaiktiyo
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be met by your guide & driver and journey to Kyaiktiyo. The journey takes in the region of 5 hours and will pass through some interesting scenery. The departure point for the Golden Rock is the small and bustling town of Kinpun and it is here that is necessary to change transport and join the many pilgrims for the hour-long journey by pick-up truck to the (almost) top of the mountain. The final ascent to the top of the mountain must be made by foot and involves a hike. Upon arrival at the summit, check-in to your hotel. In the late afternoon, early evening you will have your first opportunity to visit the temple complex. The whole area will be awash with pilgrims and devotees and the atmosphere is simply magical. After time to explore and take it all in, you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. [B/L]
Please note only males are allowed to cross the short causeway to the Golden Rock itself.

Day 3:  Kyaiktiyo, Mawlamyine
Located on the Gulf of Mottama and some 185 miles south-east of Yangon, Mawlamyine and the surrounding area is a pleasure to explore. Firmly off the ‘beaten-track’, this coastal town served as the capital of British Burma for 25 years and recollections of this bygone era are still in evidence as you discover the streets and markets of this sleepy little town.  Wake early this morning and, weather permitting, experience sunrise over the surrounding vistas. Even at this early hour, the Rock and the surrounding area is a hive of activity and there will be further time to enjoy this unique place before returning to your hotel for breakfast. Later, return via the same way to Kinpun where your vehicle will be waiting to take you Mawlamyine. Upon arrival, visit the Kyaikthanlan Pagoda and Seindon Mibaya Monastery. This monastery was built by the wife of King Mindon after she narrowly escaped death and stayed in hiding following the death of her husband. The interior is decorated with exquisite wood carvings. This evening, visit some colonial buildings and the ancient Christian church. [B/L]

Day 4:  Mawlamyine, Hpa-An
After breakfast, you will be transferred to visit the reclining Buddha at Win Sein Taw Ya, a small settlement 12.5 miles south of Mawlamyine. At just over 558 feet in length, this Buddha is one of the largest of its kind in the world and as well as viewing it from outside, it is also possible to go inside and look around the monument as well.  After lunch, you will be transferred back to Mawlamyine jetty to take a boat on Salween River from Mawlamyine to Hpa-An and it will take 4 hours.  On arrival at Hpa An, drive to your hotel to check-in. [B/L]

Day 5:  Hpa-An
Hpa –An, the capital of Kayin State. Hpa-An has one of the most picturesque settings of any Burmese state capital lying along the south bank of the Thandwin or Salween River and with limestone outcrops surrounding the town on all sides. Opposite town, across the river is Hpan Pu Mountain, and to the south is the spectacular Zwegabin, sacred mountain of the Karen people and which features on the state flag. After breakfast at hotel, visit to Sadan cave which is very huge cave filled with Buddha pagodas. It is really impressive and we can get opportunity to take small wooden ferry. Then visit to Mt. Zwekabin which is famous not only in Myanmar but also in Southeast Asia and enjoy the fantastic view along the way. After that visit to the Kawgun cave consists of thousands of tiny clay buddhas and carvings plastered all over the walls and roof of this open cavern. [B/L]

Day 6:  Hpa-An, Yangon, USA
After breakfast at Hotel, visit to the Hpa-An market to buy traditional hand-woven Karen Longyis and other local crafts. Late morning, drive back to Yangon for drop-off at the airport to board your flight back to the USA.  [B]
Note: Depending on your flight schedule we can book an extra night in Yangon and add a transfer to the airport.
