First visit the Tell es-Sultan, (Sultan’s Mound), also knows as the Mound of Ancient Jericho, where 25 consecutive settlements were uncovered and excavated, the first one dated to as early as 9000 BC. This special archeological site offers a unique picture of the different historical and pre-historical settlements of this region. Then, take the tram to Mount of Temptation Monastery, built on top of the mountain where Jesus fast for 40 days which became the model for Christian Lent. On the way back stop at the Zacheus Sycamore, a very old sycamore fig tree, climbed by Zacheus to see Jesus passing by.
