Day 1: Porto Alegre
Upon your arrival at Porto Alegre Salgado Filho Airport you will be met and assisted by our representative who will escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to rest and relax after the long flight. Maybe you want to find a local restaurant and try one of the delicious typical dishes. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Porto Alegre
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before you are picked-up for a full day tour of Porto Alegre visiting the main highlights of the city: Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, Santander Museum, Ibere Camargo Museum, Laçador, Calçada da Fama and Orla do Guaiba with a stop for lunch (not included) before returning to your hotel. In the evening you will be driven to the restaurant Galpão Crioulo for a typical Brazilian barbeque dinner and a Gaucho folkloric show. Return to the hotel for overnight. [B/D]
Day 3: Porto Alegre, Gramado
Morning departure to Gramado, a 2-hour drive, to arrive at the “chocolate capital” of Brazil. Stop at the Café Colonial, a well known typical restaurant, to get a taste of the region’s cuisine. In the afternoon, continue to one of the chocolate factories where you will be introduced to the growing extraction and preparation of the
Cocoa plus the chocolate fabrication process they use in the region. For your last night in Gramado you will dinner at barbecue restaurant. Return to the hotel for overnight. [B/L/D]
Day 4: Gramado, Bento Gonçalves
After breakfast leave Gramado towards Bento Gonçalves for a wonderful day in a famous Brazilian wine region. Visit the main local wineries and taste their wines as presented to you by the wineries’ experts. Then, continue to the city for lunch (not included). In the afternoon visit the Immigrant’s Museum created to celebrate more than one century of Italian immigration in the region. The museum displays objects collected in the region, from artifacts to art pieces in addition to a replica of the Capitoline Wolf offered by the Italian government on the occasion of the community’s centenary. Check-in at the hotel and dinner at restaurant Casa Valduga. Overnight at your hotel. [B/W/D]
Day 5: Bento Gonçalves
Today you’ll take a tour of another wine region driving south to the areas of Carlos Barbosa and Garibaldi and visit the wineries of Salton and Chandon, both producers of fresh sparkling wines that have been developed in alliance with the Champagne region of France that noticed the exceptional climate of this region. The quality of the wines produced there leads experts to speculate whether they will be the next wave of exports to the US. Then, enjoy a ride aboard the Maria Fumaça steam train stopping at the Thematic Park “Epopeia Italiana”, a celebration of the Brazilian-Italian community. Return to Bento Gonçalves for overnight. Day 6: Bento Gonçalves, USA
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and get ready to pack your bags for, soon, you will be picked up for your transfer to Porto Alegre to board your connecting flight to São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro and your flight back home. [B]
