Day 1: San Jose
Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival in San Jose transfer to your hotel in San Jose.
Day 2: San Jose, Pacuare River
Early in the morning, leave your hotel towards the Pacuare River for a day of adventure and adrenaline. Your professional guide will be waiting for you. After some safety instructions, you will start on this incredible rafting journey. Experience this adventure surrounded by picturesque canyons where crystal-clear waterfalls plummet down into the rapidly coursing river below. Tall trees and dense green vegetation come right down to the water’s edge, and the thick undergrowth of this protected area provides shelter for a variety of tropical animals. Arrive at the hotel where you overnight in modern wooden bungalows. Remainder of the day at leisure to relax or enjoy the optional activities. [B/L/D]
Day 3: Pacuare River
Day at leisure to engage in one of the many optional activities offered in this area or just relax in your hotel. The lodge’s naturalist guide will provide you with unique insights into the fauna and flora of the area. Optional tours include guided hikes through an emerald rainforest, the Cabecar Indian tour - where you may participate in a cultural exchange with a shaman, or the Adventure Canopy Tour – where visitors glide amid a tropical rainforest canopy. Day 4: Pacuare River, Arenal Volcano
This morning after a delicious buffet breakfast, you’ll launch the rafts again for the second day of the river expedition. Rafting becomes even more thrilling as you begin to use the skills and experience gained the day before. Stop to explore the side streams that lead to striking waterfalls and pools. A picnic lunch will be served along the river. At the end, change into dry clothes. You are now headed towards the northern lowlands. En route pass through different towns such as Puerto Viejo (Sarapiqui), San Miguel, Venecia and Aguas Zarcas. Appreciate the beautiful scenery of the mountains around. Arrive at La Fortuna Village late in the afternoon, where the mighty Arenal Volcano will welcome you! Check in at your hotel where you will be staying the next two nights. [B/L]
Day 5: Arenal Volcano
This morning experience the Sky Tram & Sky Trek adventure! You will be amazed by the spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake, and the Tilaran mountain range. The trip begins with a tram ride leading to an observation point. From there, the exhilarating zip line tour will have you gliding through the rainforest and its landscapes. This afternoon is at leisure to explore the area on your own. [B]
Day 6: Arenal Volcano, Pacific Coast (Manuel Antonio)
After breakfast depart from Arenal Volcano towards one of the most beautiful Central Pacific beaches, the area of Manuel Antonio. During this 4-hour ride, sit back and observe the beaches en route such as Jaco and Quepos - very popular among surfers and water enthusiasts. This area’s main attraction is The Manuel Antonio National Park: one of the icons of ecotourism in Costa Rica - offering enchanting white-sand beaches ideal for swimming, and a tropical rainforest forest filled with wildlife. It is not uncommon to spot monkeys and iguanas in this area. The many activities offered here will keep you busy on the next 3 days! [B]
Day 7: Pacific Coast (Manuel Antonio)
After breakfast depart on your half-day tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. The park is home to an exuberant tropical forest and gorgeous beaches. You will find here a wide variety of beach vegetation, lagoons, mangrove swamps, 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds. After the tour it is your choice, to enjoy the park on your own or relax, on the beach; or return to the hotel, where you will spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. [B]
Day 8: Pacific Coast (Manuel Antonio)
Today you have the entire day at leisure, to enjoy the hotel’s facilities, visit the beach or explore the area. The Parador Resort & Spa; boasts 3 beautiful pools overlooking the Pacific, a white-sand beach with a host of watersports, nature trails, a 24-hour fitness center, tennis court and a full-service spa. [B]
Note: Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Mondays.
Day 9: Pacific Coast (Manuel Antonio), San Jose, USA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your flight back home. [B]
