Day 3: Seoul, Jeju Island
Breakfast at hotel. A driver will pick you up for a transfer to Gimpo Airport where you board your flight to Jeju Island. On arrival, you will be met by a local guide and start a full day Jeju tour visiting Hyupjae Beach, one of the popular places on the island. The white fine sand mixed with shells makes the beach glitter like silver and the crystal-clear emerald colored water make the place one of the most attractive in the region. Then walk to Hallim Park, a very popular spot on Jeju Island, offering 25 acres of gardens that can be enjoyed in any season. Next stop is O’sulloc Green Tea field. The entire building takes the shape of a green tea cup. Visitors can enjoy the views of the nearby green tea fields and the surrounding landscape. Finally take a walking tour of the Yongmeori Coastal line before checking-in at your hotel. [B]
Day 4: Jeju Island
After breakfast, meet your guide and start a full day sightseeing of Jeju to explore the Manjanggul lava cave, one of the finest lava tunnels in the world, a designated natural monument. A lava tunnel is formed when the lava that was deep in the ground spouts from the peak and flows to the surface. It has a variety of interesting structures inside including 2 ½-foot lava stalagmites and lava tube tunnels. Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, located on the eastern end of Jeju Island, rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago and has a huge crater almost 2,000 feet in diameter and 300 feet deep. With the 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a gigantic crown! While the southeast and north sides are cliffs, the northwest side is a verdant grassy hill that is connected to the Seongsan Village. The ridge provides an ideal spot to watch the magnificent sunrise. Continue to Seongeup Folk Village with its preserved traditional architecture from the Goryo Dynasty (918-1392). Then, visit the Jungbang Waterfall which is the only coastal waterfall in the orient where waters enter directly into the sea. The last stop is at Jusangjeolli rocks, that look like a large folding screen with black hexagonal stone pillars and provide a setting of mesmerizing beauty with ocean waves crashing against the pillars. Return to the hotel. [B]
