This is a very special program that opens one aspect of Cuban life practically unknown in the US. Despite, or because, of the Revolution Mason life was preserved in the country with an inordinate number of Lodges compared to the population: There is 320 in Cuba with 116 in Havana alone! The Masonic population in Cuba is open to exchanges and we are sure that American Masons will enjoy meeting with their brothers to better understand their challenges, anxieties and hopes.
An English speaking Cuban Mason will lead the tour, bridge cultural differences and provide full support during your stay.

This morning you will explore Modern Havana with stops outside El Capitolio (the “Congress”) and Gran Teatro, home to the National Ballet of Cuba ranked number three in the world. This beautiful historic building has just been renovated and a real treat for architecture lovers. We will then visit the Havana University where you will learn about the influence of Art Nouveau and Art Deco in Cuban architecture as seen today at the Bacardi Building, National Hotel and others. We will continue to Revolution Square, which is the political and government heart of Havana surrounded by monuments and important buildings. Later you can visit the Colon Cemetery with emphasis on Masons tombs and monuments. We will also drive through El Vedado and down Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue) in Miramar, the embassy and country club neighborhood of Havana. This will give you a good perspective on how Old Havana and the newer parts of town all meld together as the capital of Cuba. Lunch at a private restaurant. Though the buildings are hundreds of years old, they are still used to house a significant number of Havana’s inhabitants. Old Havana features a street paved with wooden bricks, palatial residences and much more! Dinner at a private restaurant. After dinner, you will get to see the famous Buena Vista Social Club show at the “Rosalia de Castro” Cultural Association.
