Day 2: Chisinau
Start the day with a traditional dance course. After the course, you will have a break for lunch and then enjoy a guided tour of the city of Chisinau which is the main administrative, scientific and cultural center of Moldova. During the visit, you will discover pieces of history and culture of the city such as the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, the Bell Tower, the Triumph Arch, the Monument of Stephen the Great, etc. We’ll make a stop at the theater square "Mihai Eminescu", near the souvenir market with many handicrafts and handmade souvenirs. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. [B/D]
Day 3 Chisinau (Cricova)
The day will begin with the second traditional dance class at the dance studio, followed by a lunch break. Then a short drive to Cricova and visit the wine cellar considered a national cultural heritage. During the excursion to the tourist train, at a depth of 265 feet, you will discover the wonders of Cricova's underground galleries formed by more than seventy streets covering an area of almost 75 miles, each of them bearing a vine name: Sauvignon, Cabernet, Cahors, etc. The jewel of the underground treasure is the National Collection, comprising more than 600 types of wine totaling around 1 million bottles. Here you can admire the oldest bottle of wine - "Hebrew Wine of Easter", dating from 1902 and discover the flavors of Cricova wines. Lunch at the winery before returning to Chisinau for dinner and overnight at the hotel. [B/L/T/D]
Day 4: Chisinau (Orheiul Vechi)
Start the day with a dance class led by a member of a folk-dance ensemble at the dance studio. After a lunch a 1-hour drive to Orheiul Vechi (Old Orhei) - a natural amphitheater revealing a territory that was first inhabited 40,000 years ago. The Orheiul Vechi Reserve includes a series of historical and cultural monuments as well as natural landscapes in the gorge of the Raut river. Ancient fortifications, rock monasteries, monks and hermits allow us to follow the history of this region. The originality of the Orheiul Vechi landscape is due to the gorge of the Raut river, dug in the form of a canyon in the limestone layers of the ancient Sarmatian Sea, about 14 million years ago. Lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Chisinau. Rest of the afternoon free. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. [B/L/D]
Day 5: Chisinau
During the morning have your traditional dance class with a member of a folk-dance ensemble. The afternoon is free for you to explore Chisinau on your own, shop or just relax. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. [B/D]
Day 6: Chisinau (Clisova Noua)
Today is the last dance lesson with a member of a folk-dance ensemble and you’ll wear traditional clothes, a wonderful occasion to get plenty of photos. In the afternoon, you will have free time for lunch. Then you will visit by the Arta Rustica Artisanal Complex in the village of Clisova Noua. The handmade rugs in Clisova Noua are of surprising interest and beauty. Traditional Moldovan carpets are part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage. It takes several months to create a single canvas. Each carpet is a work of art. The craftsmen of Clisova Noua put all their soul and free time into their works. They restore unique carpets from old photographs. The artisans use only natural materials and authentic techniques during the weaving process. In the evening return to Chisinau for dinner and overnight at the hotel. [B/D]
Day 7: Chisinau (Bender, Tirnauca, Tiraspol)
After breakfast, we’ll leave for Bender to discover the fortress built in the 15th century by the Prince of Moldova, Stephen the Great. Originally built as a small wooden fort, it was later fortified in stone. Occupied by the Ottomans in 1538 (in a campaign led by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent), the fort was reinforced in 1541 and became the center of an Ottoman "raya" (in which the surrounding Moldavian villages were included) and was reinforced by Moldovan craftsmen in the 18th century. The Bender fortress is an architectural ensemble of irregular quadrilateral buildings, surrounded by wide walls in limestone and brick 6.5 to 10 feet thick. After the visit, you’ll have lunch at the Casa Karaman guest house. After lunch, you will take a tour of the city of Tiraspol and discover the monument to Vladimir Lenin and the WWII tank. The city seems to be a vestige of the Soviet past. Nevertheless, you will be surprised by contrasts like the "Sheriff" football complex - a pearl of contemporary architecture. After lunch return to Chisinau with free time for last shopping or relaxation. This evening you’ll have a farewell dinner at a typical restaurant so you can fully appreciate the specialties of the local cuisine. Overnight in Chisinau. [B/L/D]
Day 8: Chisinau, USA
