Day 1: Dar es Salam, Mlimba [Tanzania]
At 12:00 noon, the train departs Dar es Salaam and travels the TAZARA line. Guests may freshen up in their suites before joining fellow travelers in the lounge car or observation car, which will be at the front of the train for the first 72 hours – a different aspect that our rail enthusiasts enjoy. Lunch is served in the dining cars. The train travels to Mlimba through the fertile lands of Tanzania en route to the Selous Game Reserve. [L/D]
Day 2: Mlimba, Selous Reserve, Makambako [Tanzania]
Breakfast on board and visit the Selous Game Reserve, the largest in Africa at 13,590795 acres (time permitting). Return to the train for continuation. To Makambako passing the Udzungwa Mountains and the Rift Valley. Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Mlimba. [B/L/D]

Day 3: Makambako, Tunduma [Zambia]
Lectures in morning and afternoon in the lounge car. Breakfast is served until 10:00. The train ascends the escarpment negotiating the hills and valleys with dramatic tunnels, switchbacks and viaducts to arrive at Makambako where guests may enjoy an optional stroll through the town – time permitting. Lunch on board while the train passes forests of Baobabs. Dinner is served en route to Mbeya and Tunduma on the border with Zambia. [B/L/D]
Day 4: Tunduma, Kasama, Chisimba Falls, Mununga [Zambia]
Lectures in morning or afternoon in the lounge car. Enjoy breakfast while Tanzanian and Zambian border formalities take place. Lunch on board as the train travels in a southwesterly direction towards Kasama where you disembark for an excursion to Chisimba Falls. Late afternoon, depart Kasama with dinner en route to Mununga near Lake Mweru. [B/L/D]
Day 5: Mununga, Lusaka[Zambia]
Lectures in morning or afternoon in the lounge car. Enjoy breakfast on board riding towards Kapiri Mposhi where the train is turned. Enjoy lunch and dinner on board en route to Ngwerere a station new Lusaka. [B/L/D]
Day 6: Lusaka, Makoli [Zambia]
The train departs Lusaka, capital of Zambia. After breakfast, the train crosses the Kafue railway bridge – a 1,565-foot long steel girder truss bridge of 13 spans each at 108 feet supported on concrete piers. Lunch on board as the train travels to Zimbabwe. Enjoy dinner en route to Makoli. [B/L/D]

Day 7: Makoli, Victoria Falls [Zimbabwe]
Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10:00. Arrive at Livingstone for Zambian border formalities and cross the bridge to arrive at the Zimbabwean border for passport formalities. Arrive at the incomparable Victoria Falls. Disembark with overnight bag and walk across to the hotel. Welcome address on the lawn followed by lunch at Jungle Junction. Luggage will be delivered to the rooms. In the afternoon meet in the hotel foyer before departure for the Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi. Dinner is served at the Livingstone Room, Victoria Falls Hotel. Note: If you are crossing the border into Zambia during your stay, please obtain your passport from the Train Manager/Gift Shop.
Day 8: Victoria Falls, Bulawayo [Zimbabwe]
Check-out time is normally at 10:00 am. If you have organized morning activities, please ensure you have checked out. Complimentary luggage storage at reception until afternoon departure. Breakfast and lunch at the Jungle Junction Restaurant, Victoria Falls Hotel, and day at leisure in Victoria Falls. At 4:00 pm meet on station platform to depart Victoria Falls. Enjoy dinner on board en route to Bulawayo. [B/L/D]

Day 9: Bulawayo, Gaborone [Botswana]
Lectures in the morning or afternoon in the lounge car. Have your breakfast as the train travels towards Botswana. Border formalities take place at Plumtree. Lunch is served while the train heads southwards through Francistown and Serule, crosses the Tropic of Capricorn and continues via Mahalapye to Gaborone (the capital of Botswana). Dinner and overnight on board. [B/L/D]
Note: Please pack a small overnight bag for the stay in Madikwe. Spa facilities available (own account). Times of meals and activities are seasonal and will be reconfirmed on arrival.
Day 10: Gaborone, Madikwe [South Africa]
Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 9:30 am. Disembark at Gaborone for a transfer by coach to Madikwe Game Reserve for a two-night stay. Border formalities will take place en route and guests are required to present themselves to officials (luggage may be searched). Lunch is served upon arrival at the lodge. Afternoon tea and game drive (approximately 3 hours). Dinner at the lodge. [B/L/D]
Day 11: Madikwe [South Africa]
Early morning game drive (approximately 3 hours). Breakfast is served at the lodge until 9:30 am. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon tea and game drive (approximately 3 hours). Dinner at the lodge. [B/L/D]
Day 12: Madikwe, Zeerust, Magaliesberg Mountains, Rustenberg, Krugersdorp [South Africa]
Early morning game drive (approximately 2 hours). Breakfast is served at the lodge until 9:30 am. At 11:00 am depart the lodge and transfer to the train at Zeerust. Lunch on board. The train crosses the Magaliesberg Mountains – a range of low hills stretching 75 miles due east-west from Pretoria to Rustenberg. Dinner on board en route to Krugersdorp. [B/L/D]

Day 13: Krugersdorp, Pretoria [South Africa]
Take your breakfast as the train travels north through the goldfields. Arrive at Rovos Rail’s private station in Capital Park and disembark for a city tour of Pretoria. Lunch on the Rovos Rail platform followed by a walking tour of the station and the locomotive workshops (weather permitting). Depart Pretoria and travel south towards Kimberley. Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Kingswood, Pretoria. [B/L/D]
Day 14: Pretoria, Kimberley, Matjesfontein [South Africa]
Breakfast is served until 09:45 am. Ten minutes before arriving in Kimberley, a shallow lake appears on the left-hand side of the train where, on occasion, there are spectacular flocks of Lesser Flamingos. Arrive in Kimberley and disembark for a tour of the city, Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole. Depart Kimberley just before lunch and continue on overnight through the Karoo via Beaufort West to Matjiesfontein. Dinner on board. [B/L/D]
Day 15: Matjesfontein, Cape Town [South Africa]
Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10:00. There is a chance for guests to disembark the train at Whitehill Siding and walk the 3 miles into Matjiesfontein for an opportunity to stroll through this historic little village. A member of staff will accompany the group. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Return to the train and continue to Touws River in the Hex River Valley before descending 2,460-foot down the face of the escarpment. The train arrives at the first of four tunnels on the pass. The first tunnel is 8.5 miles long so guests are to be careful when walking through the train and may wish to turn on necessary lights. At 1:00 pm lunch is served in the dining cars as the train crosses a broad valley that hosts hundreds of grape-producing farms. At 6:00 pm the. Train arrives at Cape Town station, the end of your trip. From here you’ll be transferred to the airport to board your flight back home unless you prefer to spend a couple of days in Cape Town. [B/L]
