Day 2: Iguassu Falls

Arrival and transfer to your hotel. Later today depart on the tour of the Three Frontier’s Landmark. In English it is called “Iguassu Falls” but the word “Foz” in Portuguese actually means “river mouth”. When you reach the Landmark of the Three Frontiers, you will see exactly where the Iguassu’s river mouth flows into Paraná River. There at the landmark painted in blue, yellow and green, the colors of the Brazilian flag, you will be standing at the border with the countries of Paraguay and Argentina. From there you’ll be able to see the landmarks of the Argentinian side and the Paraguayan side as well. Learn about the Paraguay War, where Paraguay faced Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. There you will understand the strategic reasons as to why Paraguay invaded Brazil and about the long-lasting impact of the outcome of the war. It gives you a different perspective into the frontier itself.

Day 3: Iguassu Falls
Today you will visit one of the seven wonders of nature: Iguassu Falls. Iguazú National Park has the name of the river serving as northern border, which means ´great waters´ in the guaraní language. It houses one of the greatest natural treasures in the world: the majestic Iguazú Waterfalls, with more than 275 falls. We will visit the upper circuit and stop to get the best views from different viewpoints. We will continue to reach the balcony over the incredible Garganta del Diablo (Devil´s Throat), waters falling down from 80 meters. Next to the Brazilian side of the falls. Located on the west end of the Paraná River, the Iguazú Park is a huge tropical rainforest which has been declared a World Heritage Site: it is one of the largest forest reserves in South America. Countless flora and fauna species live in it. We will take an elevator down to the base of the waterfalls and stop right above the river level. From a 1,000-meter footbridge, we will be able to admire the majestic Iguazú Falls or go up an elevator to the Salto Floriano viewpoint. Then back to the hotel. [B]
