Day 1: Kathmandu
Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day free to rest and relax. Dinner at the hotel. [D]
Day 2: Kathmandu
After breakfast, proceed for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square including Kumari Temple and Swoyambhunath Stupa. Durbar Square is the plaza in front of the old royal palace of the then Kathmandu Kingdom. It is one of three Durbar (royal palace) Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Also visit the Kumari Chowk (palace courtyard) of the Kumari, the young girl considered the Hindu Living Goddess, worshipped by Nepali Buddhists and Hindus as the manifestation of the goddess Durga. Swayambhunath: Swayam in Sanskrit means self, hence Swoyambhunath means “Self-Created One”. The Tibetan name for Swoyambhunath means 'Sublime Trees’. It was built over 2,500 years ago. It is also known as monkey temple as there are holy monkeys living in part of the temple. In the afternoon visit Patan, the old Newar city and see the historic Durbar Square, the Golden Gate, the sky piercing temple of Taleju and the statue of Yogendra Malla, Krishna Mandir, Sati Temple, Hiranya Varna Mahabiar (the golden temple), Mahabouddha with views of old carved wooden windows through the streets, curios shop and Bazaars. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. [B/D]
Signature Experience: Rickshaw ride from Durbar Square to Thamel (a popular tourist hub) through the old and traditional market of Indrachwok and Ason market.
Signature Experience: Singing bowls are renowned for their healing and relaxing qualities and were invented by ancient Tibetan and Nepali Buddhist monks for physical, mental and spiritual rejuvenation. Singing bowls are also called Himalayan bowls, a source of positive energy in the form of sound vibrations. When the rims of these bowls are struck, it produces a long, reverberating sound wave that soothes the senses. The singing tunes are a series of sound waves produced by them. Deep, subtle and powerful these sound waves are believed to penetrate the mind of the listener leaving him relaxed and tranquil.
Day 3: Kathmendu (Nagarkot, Changu Narayan, Bhaktapur, Pashupatinathm)
Enjoy the sunrise, then, departure for Changu Narayan. Visit the temple built by King Vishnu Gupta and famous for its architecture. Continue to Bhaktapur and discover this ancient medieval capital its temples, palaces and splendid houses. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Pashupatinath Temple, dedicated to the god Shiva and considered one of the most sacred temples for Hindus. Return to Kathmandu and, in the evening, participate in the aarti ceremony in the temple. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. [B/L/D]
Day 4: Kathmandu (Swaymbunath, Bungamati, Patan)
Morning free to discover kathmandu on your own. In the afternoon, head to the monkey temple in Swayambunath, where the Hindu and Buddhist religions of Tibet meet. Stop at Bungamati, a typical Newari village that specializes in wood sculpture. Continue to Patan, a former royal city, famous for its many craftsmen. Return to Kathmandu for dinner and overnight. Day 5: Kathmandu, Bandipur
In the morning, departure for Bandipur, an open-air museum with its beautiful Newar houses. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, walk in the medieval village and explore its surroundings to see the villagers’ rural life. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. [B/L/D]
Day 6: Bandipur, Pokhara
Breakfast and late departure for Pokhara, an enchanting city nestled at an altitude of 2,715 feet. Check-in and lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, take a city tour and discover Devi’s Fall, the Gupteswar cave, the Bindyabasini temple and the Pokhara market. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. [B/L/D]
Day 7: Pokhara (Sarangkot)
Early in the morning, drive to Sarangkot to admire the panoramic view of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks tinted by the light of the rising sun. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Then, departure for a boat trip on Lake Phewa, the second largest lake in the country. Discover the Peace Pagoda, then walk to the White Pagoda, built by Buddhist monks. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch take an excursion to the Tibetan villages on the outskirts of Pokhara, which are home to a hundred monks. Then, stroll through the alleys lined with stalls and visit the monastery. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. [B/L/D]
Day 8: Pokhara, Chitwan National Park
Early depart to Chitwan National Park, a road that takes about 5 hours. Lunch at the park. Listed as a UNESCO natural heritage site, this park is one of the largest forest areas in Asia, teeming with wild species such as the extremely rare one-horned rhinoceros, several varieties of deer, the sloth bear, leopard, wild boar, crocodile, the elusive Bengal tiger and over 350 species of birds. Check-in for 2 nights at the lodge. Walk in Tharu village before inner and overnight at the lodge. [B/L/D]
Day 9: Chitwan National Park
Day dedicated to the exploration of Chitwan Park. In the morning, depending on the water level, enjoy a canoe trip on the Rapti River. Lunch. In the afternoon, 4X4 safari in the park accompanied by a naturalist. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a show of Tharu dances. Overnight at the lodge. [B/L/D]
Day 10: Chitwan National Park, Bharatpur, Kathmandu
Departure for a short drive to Bharatpur airport to board. Your flight to Kathmandu. Transfer and check-in at your hotel. Lunch at a local restaurant and trip to explore the Thamel market. Enjoy a farewell dinner of Newari specialties at the Bhojan Griha restaurant and overnight at the hotel. [B/L/D]
Day 11: Kathmandu, USA
Free morning for last sightseeing or shopping. At the appointed time you’ll be picked-up and transferred to the airport to board your connecting flight back home. [B]
